FXとは皆さんが馴染み深い為替を利用した投資（金融商品）です。英語で書くとForeign exchangeを略してFXです。

外国為替証拠金取引とは

日本では1998年の外為法改正に伴い個人向けのFX取引が開始されました。当初はひまわり証券を始め、いくつかのFX会社しかありませんでしたが、折からのブームにより一挙に拡大しました。しかし最近は規制により最大レバレッジが縮小する傾向にあります。

FXの基礎知識

外国為替証拠金取引の特徴を解説します。

為替差益で利益を上げる

FXの利益の基本は為替差益を得ることです。つまりある通貨ペアを安く買い高く売ることで差分を利益とします。例えば馴染み深い米ドル円、今非常に円高であり1ドル76円台と戦後最高値を更新しようとしています。1ドル76円で買い、後日円安となり1ドル86円になったとすると、1ドルにつき10円の利益となります。1万通貨取引をしていれば10万円の利益になります。このように為替変動による差分で利益を狙う投資になります。

手数料が安い

FXは株式などと比べて手数料が非常に安いです。インターネット取引なら多くのFX業者で手数料無料となります。コストがかからなければその分収益性が高くなります。

投資効率が高い

FXの特徴にレバレッジというものがあります。レバレッジのおかげで元手の資金以上で取引できるのです。例えば1ドル80円として、1万通貨の取引をするとなると、かかるコストは80万円に対して証拠金として3万2000円あればいいのです。

スワップポイントが受け取れる

スワップポイントもFXの大きな醍醐味です。金利が高い通貨ペアを買うことで毎日スワップ金利を受け取ることができます。金額は通貨ペアと利用しているFX業者により異なりますが、例えばDMM.com証券では豪ドル円のスワップ金利は93円（2011年8月17日現在）にもなります。1ヶ月持ち続けていれば2700円以上になります。銀行に預けてもこれだけの金利は得られません。

円高でも利益が可能

株式の場合は信用取引を除くと安く買い高く売りしか利益を得ることができません。しかしFXでは売りから始めることができるので、円高局面でも利益を獲得することが可能です。

24時間取引可能

FXの市場は世界中で開催されています。世界中でいずれかの市場が開催されていれば取引ができます。東京市場の開催時間のみといった制限はありません。土日や年始といった世界中でクローズされる日を除いて24時間好きなときに取引できるのです。

リスクもあるので注意してください

以上のように非常に魅力的な外国為替証拠金取引なのですが、元本保証がないというリスクも存在します。自分が預けた資金を元に運用するのですが、為替相場の予期せぬ動きに伴い損失を被る可能性があります。そのためリスクを把握した上で自己責任において運用をする必要があります。
